The future of the X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still uncertain, but there is one actor from the Fox movies who would come back to reprise his old part, as James Marsden is open to returning to the role of Cyclops. Marsden played Cyclops in the first three X-Men movies released by Fox and he had a cameo role during the ending of X-Men: Days of Future Past. The X-Men movies had a much greater focus on Wolverine than the other members of the team, to the point where he became the face of the franchise....
As the calendar approaches the 12-year anniversary of the Mass Effect series on November 12, it so happens that the dearly cherished and somewhat dead franchise might have some life to it after all. When Mass Effect came out in 2007, it became an instant classic, full of a dense, interesting world, lifelike characters, and fantastic storytelling. Which seems more like the Transformers’ style than the Avengers. Recently, several of the Avengers have gotten some pretty incredible upgrades from She-Hulk’s Wakandan armor, to Black Widow’s transformation into War Widow. With macOS Mojave, Apple introduced four apps that were previously only available on iOS: Stocks, News, Home and Voice Memos. During the presentation, speculation began on how these could be the iOS apps themselves, ported to the Mac with the rumored Marzipan project. At the end of the Keynote, Craig Federighi presented a sneak peek at a multi-phase project they’ve been working on. Without giving it any name, Craig explained that this project allows iOS apps to be ported to the Mac with minimal effort,that Apple used this for their News, Stocks and Voice Memos apps and that it would become available to third-party developers next year....
Apple doesn’t change up the stock screensaver selection in macOS very often, but the latest beta of Catalina comes with a surprise in that area: a new screensaver called Drift. The screensaver depicts a multi-colored 3D array of light trails, with each particle moving in a wave-like motion. It looks beautiful. The screensaver is rendered by the GPU on-the-fly and features several different color theme options. You can choose from a variety of hues including colors based off of your desktop wallpaper, as well as ‘Space Gray’, ‘Silver’ and the rainbow ‘Spectrum’....
When it comes to the X-Men, fans know that if you can’t shoot lasers from your eyes like Cyclops, you should be able to swing them like a sword. Now thanks to Marvel’s upcoming “X of Swords” event, it looks like the X-Men’s leader will get to do both. You read that right: Cyclops is getting a lightsaber. Disney has officially confirmed when each episode of The Mandalorian will be released on Disney+, revealing how they’re working around Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’s release. There has been a lack of Star Wars content to this point in 2019, but the final two months of the year will be packed with new releases. In addition to the final Skywalker Saga film and the first live-action Star Wars show, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be out in just a few weeks....
Jonathan Hickman’s X-Men relaunch is centered upon one of the most absurd mutants of all time: Goldballs. Most comic book readers tend to be drawn to the more powerful superheroes, and with the X-Men, that means the recently-defined Omega level mutants. At the other end of the other scale, though, are the characters whose powersets really aren’t impressive. Like, at all. Jubilee gets a lot of flak for producing fireworks (even if that ignores the “Phalanx Covenant” arc suggesting she breaks matter down on a molecular level)....
Set photos indicate that Disney+’s MCU show Falcon and the Winter Soldier could be hiding a secret Marvel Comics superhero. It’s possible that Battlestar, another character from the comic story that the show is using, may make his live-action debut in the upcoming Disney+ series. Scheduled for the fall, Falcon and the Winter Soldier is the first MCU show to be released on Disney’s new streaming service. Though Steve Rogers’ story in the MCU ended with Avengers: Endgame, Falcon and the Winter Soldier will continue the stories of several characters from the Captain America trilogy, particularly the two titular heroes, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan)....
Mary Meeker has presented her 2019 Internet Trends Report today during Recode’s Code Conference. The annual report offers a comprehensive look at trends including smartphone shipments, new Internet users and usage, e-commerce, and much more. This year’s annual Internet Trends report includes 333 slides covering users, e-commerce + advertising, usage, freemium business models, data growth, work, education, immigration, healthcare, and China. First in the report, Meeker highlights that the growth of global Internet users is “solid,” but slowing down....
While Stephen King is a legend of literary horror, his attempt at directing a feature film, 1986’s Maximum Overdrive, wasn’t met with much acclaim. By the mid-1980s, King was already one of the biggest names in horror, and rapidly becoming a pop culture icon. Always prolific, King had so far released such classic novels as Carrie, Salem’s Lot, The Shining, The Stand, and Pet Sematary, just to name a few. Adaptations of his work had also quickly taken off, thanks to 1976’s Carrie, 1979’s Salem’s Lot, and 1980’s The Shining....
