A security problem that has existed for eleven years means that malicious Mac apps could appear to be signed by Apple, fooling many of the tools designed to detect them. The problem – caused by unclear guidance by Apple – meant that malware could be whitelisted in a wide range of tools used by individuals and companies alike … ArsTechnica explains the issue. In other words, you could have a file that contained a legitimate version of an app for PPC, and malware for Intel, and the tools would be fooled into applying the PPC whitelisting to the Intel version too....

The fight among carriers and regulators over the robocalling problem continues this week. The Washington Post reports that 12 of the largest telephone companies, as well as 51 state attorneys general, have all pledged to implement new anti-robocalling technology. Under this agreement, the 12 carriers have agreed to implement call blocking technology, make better tools available to customers, and implement a new system to label incoming calls as real or spam....

A recent photo with cast members from Eternals has sparked speculation that Legion’s Dan Stevens may have joined the ensemble. Marvel’s Ghost Rider live-action TV show is no longer happening at Hulu. Marvel TV has been growing their library of content and spreading across multiple platforms over the last few years. While ABC and Netflix were their primary homes at first, Hulu has since become a major player in Marvel TV’s future. They have the third season of Runaways coming at the end of this year, are developing The Offenders’ animated universe, and most recently were said to be bringing Ghost Rider back to the screen....

Future Fight was a mobile RPG with a rich variety of playable characters. Mutants are coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it’s possible that they may not use the X-Men name. After several years of separation, the Marvel Universe is going to become unified on the big screen in the near future, with Marvel Studios confirming that mutants will join the MCU. But a time frame for when that will happen hasn’t been provided yet. Bryce Dallas Howard reveals The Mandalorian directors had a surprising amount of creative freedom during production of the live-action Star Wars TV show. Over the past handful of years, it’s clear Lucasfilm’s had something of a director problem (see: Josh Trank, Gareth Edwards). The most infamous incident, of course, was when Phil Lord & Chris Miller were fired from Solo: A Star Wars Story late into filming.
