Smash-hit Magnum, P.I. first appeared in 1980, airing until its end in 1988. Tom Selleck made famous the Hawaiian private detective Thomas Magnum we know and love. In 2018, Magnum P.I. was reintroduced to a new generation, this time with Jay Hernandez as the title character. As with any reboot, it will not exactly resemble the original work. Considering the reboot aired thirty years following the original’s series finale, updates for the sake of modernization have been made, but that doesn’t mean certain qualities of the original Magnum, P....

Brian Stucki, over at Macstadium, seems to have made a fantastic discovery in the form of an update to the macOS software license agreement for Big Sur. Something that he called a “love letter” disguised as a software license agreement. The update added an entirely new section to the software license agreement, bringing it up to 16 sections. This new section is called “Leasing for Permitted Developer Services,” and it makes people’s jobs at companies like Macstadium much easier....

On the launch day of macOS 10.14 Mojave, a new flaw has been shared that has to do with bypassing the new operating system’s privacy protections. This leaves supposedly private data like a user’s contacts vulnerable. Security researcher Patrick Wardle discovered the security flaw in Mojave and demonstrates how the bypass works in a one-minute video. Wardle notes that Mojave is supposed to come with “improved privacy protections” but that Apple hasn’t fully delivered on that promise....

Major SPOILERS for Netflix’s The OA ahead - On December 16, just days after Netflix released its first trailer, all eight episodes of The OA were released on the streaming platform. The series, from creators Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, follows the mysterious circumstances surrounded the disappearance, and later reemergence, of Prairie Johnson (played by Brit Marling). Of course, The OA was so much more. Describing the series in one sentence is virtually impossible, as it seemed to transcend modern genres, blending elements of science fiction, mystery, drama, and spiritual exploration....

Newly surfaced concept art from Thor: The Dark World makes Malekith look a lot like Ultron from Avengers: Age of Ultron. Thor: The Dark World was Thor’s second solo outing, while Age of Ultron was the second team up film featuring the original six heroes Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Thor. Malekith the Accursed is a well-known enemy of Thor, who first appeared in Marvel comics in Thor #344 in 1984....

Over recent weeks, iCloud users have started to notice an increased amount of spam coming to various aspects of their accounts. Email accounts, of course, are always vulnerable to spam messages and the root cause can be a variety of different reasons. This new type of spam, however, relates to iCloud’s Calendar and Photo Sharing functionalities… Essentially what happens in these instances is an iCloud user will receive a request for either a Calendar event or to view/share an iCloud Photo Sharing album or image....

Mario Kart Tour for iPhone and iPad will finally add support for landscape mode in an update being released tomorrow. Once this update is available, you’ll be able to play Mario Kart Tour in landscape orientation, with a new set of controls to match. The lack of support for landscape orientation has been one of the major limitations for Mario Kart Tour since its debut, particularly on iPad. Nintendo says an update to Mario Kart Tour for iPhone and iPad, scheduled for release on July 21, will finally solve this problem....

Warning: SPOILERS for Spider-Verse #1 Marvel Comics has finally revealed the truth about Spider-Man’s spider-sense! One of Spider-Man’s signature super-powers, the spider-sense is traditionally portrayed as a sort of “danger sense.” It gives Spider-Man an instinctive awareness of threats, and over the years he’s learned to trust it instinctively. It may be a staple part of Spider-Man’s powerset, but the spider-sense has always been pretty mysterious. It doesn’t always trigger in response to immediate danger, which means Peter Parker sometimes struggles to interpret it; for example, it warned the wall-crawler when Glory Grant was dating a werewolf, but he had no idea what it was that was setting his senses tingling....

iPhone NFC by moneto We had some time to talk to a well-connected developer at Macworld who was building an app that— among other capabilities— includes NFC reading for the purpose of mobile transactions. We were obviously curious why they would do that, noting that third party NFC readers for iPhone were not popular (aside from the recently announced Moneto, above). The developer told us that he had no hardware knowledge, but he had spoken to Apple iOS engineers on multiple occasions, and they are “heavy into NFC....

Marvel fans could have met Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner much sooner had Louis Leterrier’s plans for The Incredible Hulk had gone his way, but the studio had a different idea – and in the end, it was for the best. The Marvel Cinematic Universe began in 2008 with Jon Favreau’s Iron Man and Marvel Studios has since produced many more films as part of its connected universe, with many others currently in development....

With his tall figure somewhere between lanky and wide, his deep baritone voice, and his aquiline face, Adam Driver could very easily be cast as villains forever. His film career certainly got helped by playing one in the new series of Disney Star Wars movies. The Release Candidate version of macOS Big Sur 11.2 is now available to developers. This comes after Apple issued the iOS 14.4 and watchOS 7.3 RC versions earlier today. Instead, going forward, the company will use the term “Release Candidate,” or RC, to reference a near-final beta release....

For example, Xbox Video and Music rely on the Windows Libraries in Windows to store and access purchased content. Even if you add your own files to the card, built-in apps won’t see it. Holdkey works by recognizing when you input a long-press on your physical keyboard. For example, if you hold down the “u” key it will display a list of 10 additional characters similar to the traditional English “u.” The Holdkey overlay appears as a blue horizontal box across the currently open window that you are typing in. Once appeared, there are two ways to input the key. The first is to just click the character you would like to use....
