A new fan-made poster for Blade shows what Mahershala Ali could look like as the famous vampire hunter. The character Blade first appeared back in 1973 in the comic The Tomb of Dracula #10, before getting his own movie in 1998 with Wesley Snipes in the lead role. Snipes would appear in two more Blade movies in 2002 and 2004, but now the character is being rebooted for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel Studios regained the rights to Blade a few years ago, but they have taken their time giving the character a new movie. At one point Blade almost got a crossover with Underworld, but that idea was scrapped in order to introduce Blade to the MCU. Snipes had always seemed excited to reprise his role as Eric Brooks, but at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced that Ali had been cast as Blade. With the clear excitement that a two-time Academy Award winner would be playing the character, fans have created multiple pieces of fan art depicting Ali as Blade. Now, a new poster takes this to a whole new level.

The fan-made poster from death.streak007 shows Ali suited up as the Daywalker, with the character ready for action. The artwork shows Blade with his iconic dual blade, pistol, and swords, as well as his blood-red eyes. The artist’s full post can be seen below:

Fans were expecting to hear the full-slate of movies planned for Phase 4, but the announcement of Blade joining the MCU was a bit of a surprise. While Marvel didn’t give a release date for Blade, they announced their plans for films past Phase 4 as well. Now that Disney has acquired 20th Century Fox’s IP, Marvel Studios will soon bring the X-Men and Fantastic Four into the MCU. While Marvel’s plans for Phase 4 and beyond seems very extensive, there is actually very little known about Blade except for the initial casting announcement.

As soon as Ali had been cast as the character, the internet was flooded with fan art of the actor as Blade. Most of the artwork draws inspiration from the comics and Snipes’ version of Blade, but there is no telling what Blade could look like in the MCU. Marvel Studios has taken liberties in the past with changing superhero costumes, most of which have been accepted by fans. With that in mind, it will be quite sometime before fans actually see a real Blade poster. Blade is a Phase 5 Marvel movie, so Disney will no doubt be giving their upcoming films more attention than Blade for the time being.
