Married at First Sight has been renewed for two more seasons, just after the season 9 Decision Day final. That season ended with two divorces and two people sticking it out in an episode that broke all-time viewership records for the show. With the news of the two new seasons coming out, though, fans also learned some new information about how things will change in the episodes to come that will offer audiences more to watch.
It’s no surprise that Lifetime would be ordering more episodes of Married at First Sight, a show that features people who agree to get legally married to a complete stranger with the help of scientific matchmaking methods to determine each couple, who will not have met or had contact with each other until the wedding day. The show has been successful in not only matchmaking but also with bringing the viewers. The season 9 finale alone drew in 1.51 million live viewers, an all-time series high. Viewership has been on a steady incline since the show’s premiere and is expected to continue through the next two seasons. Both live viewing and streaming services noted a significant viewership, where multiple episodes averaged at least 400,000 viewers. The finale episode takes the cake in live viewers, but episode 33, where a drama-filled scandal is revealed between Dan and Jessika, is also a strong contender. That episode accumulated around 2.27 million viewers in two days.
With new viewers finding their way to Married at First Sight on Lifetime and Hulu, show makers decided to give the fans a little more content than previous seasons did. According to Deadline, Seasons 10 and 11 will see all new couples and all-new drama packaged up in even longer episodes. The show will also offer even more episodes, making these seasons rather “supersized” when compared to prior ones. Announcing two new seasons at once isn’t anything new, but deciding to extend those seasons and episode lengths goes to show that fans are dying to see more.
In addition to that increase, there will also be a change in the cast. We will be seeing a total of five new couples instead of four, working things out and making it last in the Washington D.C. area in season 10 and New Orleans in season 11. These seasons will have seven full two-hour episodes in length instead of the previous hour and a half. Married at First Sight has been growing exponentially since it first aired, originally showing us only 3 couples for an hour at a time. Married at First Sight is quickly becoming the fastest growing viewership of any reality TV show in recent years.
Fans can look forward to more footage of all new couples that will agree to marry a stranger. The new season of Married At First Sight will undoubtedly break more viewership records when the first episode of next season drops. Fans can look forward to the supersized episodes dropping season 10 that will premiere on January 1st, 2020 on the Lifetime channel.
