For the three-year anniversary of her miscarriage with son Johnathan, Married at First Sight star Jamie Otis took to Instagram to share a touching tribute for her and her husband Doug’s unborn child. Jamie is currently pregnant with a baby boy, and the couple share 2-year-old Henley Grace as well.

Jamie, who first appeared on TV many years ago on Ben Flajnik’s season of The Bachelor, met her husband Doug back in 2014 on the first season of Married at First Sight. Though the couple didn’t feel sparks at first, they decided to marry anyway, and five years later they’re still going strong. Pregnancy and starting a family has been a difficult road for the couple though, with Jamie suffering multiple miscarriages over the years and recently announcing that potentially cancerous tissue may have been found in her cervix. Doug and Jamie have their rainbow baby, daughter Henley, and they’re currently expecting a baby boy. However, they haven’t forgotten about the son they lost in 2016.

In a touching post on her Instagram on December 20 (via Reality TV World), Jamie shared that their “angel baby Johnathan turns 3 in heaven today,” and she said that though “time has numbed some of the pain,” anyone who assumes that her pain has gone away “must not know what it’s like to deliver your lifeless son & hold him in your arms knowing your body failed him and didn’t nurture & protect him to his due date.” Jamie continues the post saying that “as a mommy all you want to do is protect your baby and make sure they’re happy and loved,” but that sadly she will “never get the chance to soothe my sweet Johnathan’s cry by rocking him to sleep at night, or kiss his boo-boos ‘all better.’” The expecting mother wrote that though she will never get to be the typical mom to her son, she will be a mom who “honors him, remembers him, and continues to love him from earth, until we meet again.”

Jamie and Doug have always been honest with their followers about the highs and lows of their marriage, of their pregnancies and especially their miscarriages, because they want to counteract the “stigma associated with loss” or the idea that there’s a certain time frame for people to “be over it.” She asks her followers to “please, let ME say his name, share his photos & continue to keep his memory alive,” because this is “the only way I can be his mommy.” The 33-year-old finished her tribute by acknowledging all of the other women who have suffered miscarriages like she did, writing that “losing your baby - at any stage of pregnancy - is one of the worst pains to have to endure and SO many just don’t understand.”

Jamie and Doug may have met unconventionally, and they’ve been faced with a lot of challenges throughout their marriage - including Doug’s smoking habit and debt issues, as well as Jamie’s mother, who suffers from drug addiction - but they’re ready for whatever life throws at them. The couple continues to impress their fans with the ability to handle any situation with grace, regardless of the negative situations they’ve been dealt. Jamie is currently 20-weeks pregnant with a little boy, surpassing the 17-week mark that Jamie had previously miscarried at with their son Johnathan, which was causing Jamie and Doug anxiety. The couple keeps their social media followers up to date every step of the way, with everyone rooting for Jamie and Doug’s newest rainbow baby to be the next healthy, happy, and safe addition to their family.
