Marvel has launched the #GrootDanceBomb Challenge. In just a few short weeks, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 will open in theaters, and the buzz is huge. The advance reactions are pretty great, and a few recent reveals - such as who Sylvester Stallone is playing and just how many scenes are happening during and after the credits - have fans pretty excited. The mid and post credit scenes of course have been a constant and crucial theme within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, often indicating major upcoming plots such as the assembling of the Avengers or introducing characters who will be important later.

The mid and post credit scenes for Guardians of the Galaxy were both more humorous than plot driven. Though the first did confirm for the audience that in spite of Groot’s death earlier in the films, some form of him would live on. Now we know that Baby Groot is very much a part of the story and plot of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. So maybe some people are hoping we’ll get to see him do his little dance again, like he did mid-credits in the first film.

Well, Marvel wants to see you dance bomb someone like Baby Groot did to Drax. So they have launched the #GrootDanceBomb Challenge.

Between now and May 5 - the opening of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 - Marvel wants you to post videos of you dancing like Groot secretly, behind other people. Share your video by including the hashtag #GrootDanceBomb when you post, and for every post and share, Marvel will make a $1 donation through the Disney Conservation Fund to plant a tree. Up to 250,000 trees will be donated, if they get that many videos, all in honor of Earth Day this coming Saturday.

The video is hosted by D-Trix, aka Dominic Sandoval. D-Trix made it to the top 8 on season three of So You Think You Can Dance and won the third season of America’s Best Dance Crew as a part of Quest Crew, so he knows what he is doing. Most of the video is of D-Trix demonstrating how to dance like Groot, in various locations where he tries not to be noticed by the people around him. Though generally once he is caught, D-Trix shows the people he dance bombed how they can also dance like Baby Groot as well. He also provides a bit of a tutorial at the end of the video, for those who need help with the dance. And accompanying him through the video is a toy Baby Groot.

Earth Day is an international celebration of our planet, where environmentalism is celebrated and encouraged. Disney’s offer to plant up to a quarter of a million trees is a generous one, huge amounts of trees are cut down every year, leaving animals without homes and causing harm to the planet.

So any time between now and the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 turn on your camera and show us your moves. The Guardians are protecting the galaxy. You can help be a Guardian of the Earth.
