The first official look at Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl) in his purple mask for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier has been released. Audiences were first introduced to the cold and calculating villain in Captain America: Civil War in 2016, where he manipulated events to pit Captain America and Iron Man against each other. Even though he was detained in the end, his mission to break up the Avengers was successful.

While many found Zemo to be a worthy adversary to the MCU’s biggest heroes, he did so without his trademark comics costume. On the page, Zemo traditionally has a purple mask concealing his face, but this wasn’t featured in Captain America: Civil War. Concept art for the film has shown that producers did consider the traditional mask, and it was revealed this summer at San Diego Comic-Con that Zemo would get his accessory when he next appeared in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

Beyond some blurry photos, those who weren’t in attendance haven’t been able to get a good look at Zemo’s latest attire, but that has changed thanks to Disney+. Marvel released a special “Expanding the Universe” video on the streaming service detailing all of the upcoming MCU shows, with The Falcon and The Winter Soldier the first to be highlighted. During this segment of the video, footage of Zemo was shown putting his purple mask on. See his new look below:

The reveal of Zemo in the mask comes after he says, “I’ll be seeing you very soon,” which was part of a longer video shown at SDCC teasing the threat he’ll once again pose to Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan). Thanks to this new preview special on Disney+, fans around the world can now see what Zemo looks like with his purple mask in the MCU - even if they can’t access the streaming service at this point.

This was just one of many details from The Falcon and The Winter Soldier that the video revealed. In addition to seeing Zemo’s new look, the video showed concept art of Falcon and Bucky in new suits, too. Falcon has a brand new look that could be his transitional suit before becoming the new Captain America, while Bucky’s costume cleans up the 100-year-old soldier’s grizzled look. Additionally, the video provided concept art of John Walker (Wyatt Russell) in his U.S. Agent suit, while Emily VanCamp’s Sharon Carter has some tactical gear of her own. With filming on The Falcon and The Winter Soldier currently underway, we could get more looks at Zemo’s mask and the rest of the cast’s new outfits in the weeks to come.
