Square Enix has revealed details concerning the Marvel’s Avengers game special editions, and players will be able to purchase the Deluxe Edition, the Earth’s Mightiest Edition, as well as placing a pre-order to acquire exclusive content. Marvel’s Avengers will release on September 4, 2020 after a significant delay.
Marvel titles have a history of not always being good video games. In particular the games that are based on the MCU have usually performed very poorly. With the success of 2018’s Spider-man though, fans are hopeful for a game centered around The Avengers. The storyline of this title is completely separate from any Marvel comics or the MCU, which will help set the game apart from the rest of the continuity. Along with this the gameplay so far has seemed very interesting as players have the ability to control several different characters, including Ms. Marvel, and the title will have RPG elements as well as allowing the customization of heroes.
Earlier this morning Square Enix announced what players can expect from the different special editions of the game. Players who pre-order any version of Marvel’s Avengers will get 72-hour early access to the beta version of the game as well as a Legacy Outfit and an exclusive nameplate. Certain retailers will also provide those who pre-order with either a pin set, patch set, comic book, or a SteelBook designed by Marvel Artist Mark Brooks.
Those who place a pre-order from the PlayStation Store will receive additional bonuses as well, like an emote for Ms. Marvel and the “Marvel’s Avengers: Hex Pattern Logo” theme. This digital edition will also provide players with a Ms. Marvel nameplate and 1,000 in-game credits that can be used for character customization. This digital edition will also give players 72-hour early access to the beta version.
If players purchase the Deluxe Edition of the the game they will also acquire six character outfits, six obsidian nameplates, and the beta access. If players decide to upgrade to the Earth’s Mightiest Edition, they will receive an incredible amount of bonuses. This edition comes with a ‘12 inch statue of Captain America that is fully colored and detailed. Earth’s Mightiest Edition will also have a copy of the Deluxe Edition, an exclusive SteelBook case, Hulk Bobblehead, Mjolnir Keychain, Black Widow’s Belt Buckle, Iron Man’s Prototype Amor Blueprints, Kamala Khan’s Honorary Avenger Pin, and a commemorative Avengers group photo.
A lot of games come with special editions and bonus content, but it is rare for a game to come with this much merchandise. Receiving Earth’s Mightiest Edition seems like it would feel like second Christmas for a massive Avengers fan. At this point Marvel’s Avengers looks like it will be a lot of fun, but even if it isn’t that Captain America statue would look great on a collector’s shelf.
