After initially announcing that Inhumans would be one of the final movies of Phase 3, Marvel has found a new way to bring them into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Once the movie was removed from Disney’s slate, everyone wondered what the future would hold, and it turns out it was different than anyone would’ve expected. IMAX and ABC worked together with Marvel to take the scrapped movie concept and turn it into an eight episode mini-series that will have the first two episodes debut in theaters for a limited time.
With a premiere date in September, Inhumans is only six months away from being seen by many. Recently, Marvel has finally started to confirm the cast that will shape this series. Iwan Rheon will play Maximus the Mad, Anson Mount will play Black Bolt, Serinda Swan will play Medusa, and Ken Leung will play Karnak. With half of the cast officially announced, Marvel is ready to get the cameras rolling.
Reel News Hawaii spotted production signs for Inhumans on the islands that signify production beginning today. While there are no set photos showing what the location or characters will look like, Rheon has been spotted multiple times in Hawaii - even teasing his location on his Instagram. No other cast members have been spotted to this point.

With filming beginning today, there is a chance that actual set photos could surface rather quickly depending on how closed off the filming location is. Even if that does not happen, fans can expect future sightings of the rest of the cast to continue to pop up as they make their way to base of operations. Marvel has already been looking for extras for filming, so the news that production will begin today is not entirely surprising.
There is also the possibility that Marvel could officially announce the rest of the series’ cast today if they are involved with filming. They have yet to officially announce castings for Crystal, Gorgon, and Triton - although social media activity has led to speculation that Crystal and Gorgon are already cast. If any of these characters will be involved with filming in the next few days, Marvel would want to get the jump on announcing them.
The combination of this being a Marvel project and the first series ever to get an IMAX launch makes it one of biggest TV series currently in development. Casting announcements aside, there will be no shortage of news for Inhumans as plot details and promotional materials begin to surface later on in production. All of those are now one step closer to being released with filming officially beginning.
Inhumans comes to IMAX theaters for two weeks starting Labor Day weekend, prior to its television debut on September 26, 2017 on ABC.
