The production start date for WandaVision has potentially been revealed. The upcoming Disney+ TV show is one of the streaming platform’s most anticipated offerings, with a number of questions surrounding it, and filming for the show could be kicking off very soon.

Disney confirmed WandaVision  back in April, along with some other shows connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The full MCU Phase 4 slate was then confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con by Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, including their Disney+ offerings. In addition to Loki, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, and a speculative animated series titled What If, WandaVision is set to follow the characters of Vision and Scarlet Witch in the 1950s. The premise is oddly intriguing enough on its own, helped along by the fact that that the mini-series is supposed to take place after the events of Endgame. It remains to be seen how that all plays out, and while it’s a safe bet that some form of time travel will be involved, there are a few details to have been confirmed. Now, it seems a specific start date for filming has been revealed.

Recently, Production List, which tracks production for movie and television projects, noted that WandaVision will begin shooting on Sept. 21 in Los Angeles, California. While no specific premiere date has been announced, it was confirmed at SDCC that WandaVision will premiere Spring 2021 on Disney+. If this information about the start of filming is to be believed, and isn’t a placeholder of some kind, then it’s an indication it won’t be long before devoted Marvel fans will go looking for behind the scenes photos that might clear up some elements of the show.

Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Scarlet Witch, has noted there will be a great group of writers involved with bringing the story to screen. Jac Schaeffer, a producer on WandaVision and the writer for the first episode, has her hands full. Unlike other television shows with the Marvel name, the Disney+ slate will tie-in more directly with the movies that have come to dominate the box office in recent years. Monica Rambeau, of Captain Marvel, will appear as an adult in at least one of the six episodes and the mini-series will reportedly connect heavily with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Olsen is set to appear as Scarlet Witch in the Doctor Strange sequel, with speculation that she could be the villain.

This is without mentioning that Thanos killed off Vision in memorable fashion during the final minutes of Infinity War. The mini-series will have to address the question of how to bring the character, played by Paul Bettany, back to life. Scarlet Witch and Vision are easily among the most powerful characters to appear in several MCU titles, but they’ve always been felt a little underdeveloped. WandaVision, which may begin shooting in a matter of weeks, is sure to rectify that issue.
