2021 is shaping up to be a huge year for Marvel Studios, as they will release three movies and four Disney+ TV shows. The timeframe for the shows and the release dates of the movies could indicate that viewers may get a dose of the MCU every two weeks, which is a big step up from Marvel’s 2020 slate, which only includes two movies (Black Widow and The Eternals) and one Disney+ show, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

SDCC 2019 and D23 have revealed Marvel’s plans for Phase 4 and the immediate future of the MCU. Between 2020 and 2021, Marvel Studios will release Black Widow, Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Doctor Strange 2, and Thor 4. Also during this time, fans will be treated to five Disney+ TV shows set in the MCU. The first, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, will release in late 2020.

Marvel’s schedule for 2021 is more packed than usual, thanks to Disney+. Their selection of release dates seems to balance the Disney+ shows so each one comes out at a different time of the year, whereas their film slate follows their standard pattern of three movies a year, with each one spaced out by a few months. Marvel and Disney will start off 2021 with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in February, followed by Doctor Strange 2 in May, and finally, Thor 4 in November. The Disney+ shows will be sprinkled throughout the year, with no exact dates given. Loki and WandaVision (which lines up curiously with Doctor Strange 2) can be expected in the spring, What If…? in the summer, and Hawkeye in the fall.

So depending on where these shows will fall throughout 2021, it is entirely possible that there will be a new Marvel Studios release every two weeks. If so, viewers may be able to enjoy something new from the MCU all year round for the first time ever.
