Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is featured on the cover of the June issue of Game Informer, which will also include new details about the game, as well as new gameplay footage. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 was a surprise announcement at the 2018 Game Awards, and it was revealed as an exclusive title for the Nintendo Switch. It will feature superheroes from the Marvel Universe who must team up to stop Thanos and The Black Order from collecting the Infinity Stones.

The first title in the franchise, called Marvel Ultimate Universe, was an action RPG released in 2006. Published by Activision, the title featured a variety of Marvel superheroes and villains with players choosing four characters to create teams to make their way through the game’s story. The title also featured side missions for characters, as well as multiple endings, and was well-received by fans. Marvel Ultimate Universe 2 released in 2009 and followed the plots from Marvel’s Secret War and Civil War comic book storylines. Both games took advantage of the new interest in Marvel, thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and re-released in 2016 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Now, nearly a decade later, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 is on its way. In honor of its July 2019 release, Game Informer has featured the Switch-exclusive title on its cover for June. The magazine will show off some of the game’s new playable characters, as well as feature interviews about the game’s development and some new gameplay footage that will likely demonstrate more of what fans can expect from the game’s summer release.

It took ten years to get the next installment in the Marvel Ultimate Alliance franchise, so to say that the game is a highly-anticipated one is an understatement. Trailers for the title have already revealed some of the characters that players will get to see in the game, including the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Iron Fist, Storm, Venom and Spider-Man. Although Carol Danvers has appeared in previous installments, she was only playable before as Ms. Marvel. In Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, she appears for the first time as Captain Marvel with all her Binary powers.

Although the plot of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 sounds similar to the Avengers: Infinity War movie, fans can expect that the video game will more closely follow the story as it originally appeared in comics, as well as include more characters, such as the X-Men. It’s bound to provide a lot of excitement for fans who can’t get enough of the Marvel Universe, at least for those who own a Nintendo Switch.
