Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is both a critically acclaimed show and one that is beloved by fans. For three seasons, Miriam “Midge” Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) has been picking up the pieces of her life after splitting up from her husband, and she realizes that she wants more from life than just being a housewife.

As Midge finds herself and discovers the joys of stand-up comedy, she wears a lot of interesting outfits that reflect the time period that the series is set in: the late 1950s. While Midge generally looks elegant and put together, she does wear some pretty bad outfits, too. Here are Midge’s five best and five worst outfits.

Best: Midge’s Personality Shines In Yellow

Midge is spirited and smart, and she might not be for everyone, but she honestly doesn’t care about fitting in. This yellow dress is one of the TV character’s best outfits because it draws a lot of attention, and that’s something that Midge is always up for.

The cut and style of the dress is flattering, and since Midge is a proper lady, she knows that you can’t wear a dress without properly accessorizing it. Her yellow hat and purse match her dress perfectly and look awesome.

Worst: Grey Isn’t The Best Color

Grey is a hard color to pull off. It works better in small doses than in an entire outfit. Midge’s grey dress is one of her worst outfits as it’s dull and doesn’t bring out her fun and quirky personality like some of her other clothing choices.

The style of this dress is also pretty bad as it’s long-sleeved and frumpy. Midge’s colorful striped scarf also looks awkward and out of place as the dress is too serious and formal for it. Worst of all, this doesn’t look very comfortable.

Best: Midge’s Classic Black Dress Is Perfect

When Midge performs her stand-up, she does so in pretty housewife-style dresses since that’s part of her act. She tells stories about her life and her jokes are all about being a woman, being married, and getting divorced.

Midge’s classic black dress looks perfect on her and paired with the elegant gloves, it’s one of her best outfits on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. She looks incredibly sophisticated and like she could attend a super fancy dinner party.

Worst: This Yellow Dress Is Pretty Drab

Even though Midge looks great in yellow and the previously mentioned patterned yellow dress is one of the nicest things that she’s worn, this yellow number is much drabber.

The fit of the dress is strange as it’s tight around the waist but pretty loose on top, which gives the impression that it’s not the right size. Overall, this is too boring for someone like Midge who has a real zest for life.

Best: We Love Her Green Coat And Blue Top And Skirt

Not everyone would be courageous enough to wear a big green coat… or to pair it with a bright blue blouse and blue skirt. But Midge isn’t everyone and we love her for it. And we definitely love this outfit.

Midge has kept her accessories to a minimum and let the bright coat do the talking as she’s only wearing a thin gold and black watch. This outfit proves that Midge shines the most when she’s not shying away from brave, bright shades.

Worst: Midge’s Nightgown

This is an interesting case as it’s one of Midge’s worst outfits but also one of the defining moments of the entire show. Midge performs stand-up in this nightgown at the Gaslight Cafe at the beginning of the series.

Besides the obvious fact that pajamas shouldn’t be worn outside your house, the nightgown itself isn’t the nicest one. It’s a bit too frilly for Midge. Sure, she’s living in the ’50s, but it’s too much like something that she would be expected to wear. Midge’s best fashion moments are when she is bold.

Best: Pink Is Perfect On Midge

This is another one of Midge’s best outfits on the show. While there are still some stylish bathing suits out there, it’s definitely safe to say that the 50s and 60s were the glory days of stylish swimwear. Midge has some Marilyn Monroe vibes going on in this outfit as she wears a bright pink swimsuit and matching hats. The sunglasses are an adorable touch as well.

This whole image has a very fun retro vibe as Midge is relaxing with a copy of Vogue magazine. She wears a fair amount of pink and should definitely continue adding this color to her wardrobe.

Worst: This White, Green, And Red Dress

After seeing Midge in this white, green, and red dress, one thing comes to mind: Christmas. This dress honestly looks like a holiday costume and it doesn’t seem like something that you would wear in your daily life.

The style is also awkward as it looks like she’s wearing a white t-shirt, a huge green belt, and a pleated red skirt. None of these colors work together.

Best: We Love Midge’s All Pink Look

With this outfit, Midge has really decided to go for it and wear a ton of pink, and it really works. While most people would choose the coat or the dress and that would be it, she is courageous enough to wear them together.

Midge knows that wearing two different shades of the same color looks incredible and that’s why we can’t get enough of her light pink coat and darker pink dress. Her hat and gloves add a sophisticated touch that reminds us that she’s a classy lady.

Worst: An Awkward Pink Hat And Dress

Finally, here’s another one of Midge’s worst outfits on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. She’s wearing a very confusing pointy bright pink hat, which would be enough of a fashion mistake, but she’s also wearing a grey checkered dress that is way too preppy for her.

It’s surprising to see Midge wearing such a dull and uninspiring dress as she typically embraces much brighter colors. It’s like she knew that she was wearing a boring outfit so she grabbed the pink hat as an afterthought. Although she usually looks incredibly stylish, this wasn’t one of her best looks.
