Within the wonderful world of Harley Quinn, every fictional character that we meet feels like a real character. The characters that populate the world of Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) are a unique bunch who all have a lot of interesting, and sometimes terrifying, qualities to bring to the table.
Obviously the movie is made up of a squad of protagonists (who some might call vaguely heroic) against a terrifying duo of villains, and each one of these characters is a singular and irreplaceable member of their own team. Everyone’s personality is different, and they all have something special to offer the squad. These are all of the main characters in Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), along with their MBTI personality type.
Victor Zsasz - ISTJ
Victor Zsasz is the kind of person that absolutely no one wants to share their MBTI personality type with, however there are certain characteristics that Victor displays that make him seem like an ISTJ personality type.
This personality type is called “the logistician”, and they are particularly good at dedicating themselves to something completely. They also excel at analyzing the world around them, methodically making plans and executing them, and they’re known for being particularly reliable. In an incredibly disturbing way, Victor represents all of these traits. He is hopelessly devoted to Roman, and the only thing he seems to enjoy as much as his boss is maiming and killing people for him (or for sport). But he is a dedicated soldier for both of these pillars in his life.
Helena Bertinelli - ISFJ
The ISFJ personality types are normally called “the defenders”, and it’s hard to imagine anyone embodying that title more clearly than Helena Bertinelli, also known as the Huntress. Helena is one scary individual, but her heart is in the right place (at least relatively speaking).
She may have come from a crime family, but once they were all killed she thought of nothing other than avenging them. She missed her opportunity to protect them, so she has to make do with destroying those who killed them. However, revenge isn’t at the heart of Helena. Yes, it’s her life’s goal, but when she is put in the position to choose between that goal and protecting an innocent living person, she’ll choose the latter.
Renee Montoya - ESFJ
ESFJ’s are more commonly known as “the providers” of the MBTI, and Renee Montoya is nothing if not someone who works tirelessly and thanklessly for the sake of others. In a city that is rife with dirty cops who at best are looking out for their own reputations and careers and at worst are literally on the take, Renee is one of the very few who is a truly good cop looking to do the right thing for the right reasons.
Typically ESFJ’s are well-liked leaders, but obviously Montoya is the exception to the rule, mostly because she’s surrounded by incredibly unlikable people. But Montoya is the perfect combination of tough and trustworthy, which is why she can win over nearly any half decent person she comes across.
Roman Sionis - ENTJ
It should probably go without saying, but Roman Sionis, less affectionately known as Black Mask, is the worst of the worst that the ENTJ sub-group has to offer. The ENTJ type is called “the commander”, and they are well known for their dominating and powerful energy, as well as their unique leadership styles.
To call Black Mask a leader is giving him too much credit, but he is certainly an aggressive and domineering individual. And clearly his leadership style is pretty unique… mostly because no remotely sane or rational person would ever do what Roman does in order to keep everyone around him in line. But he is undeniably a powerful leader, or at least he desperately wants to be, so the ENTJ suits him.
Dinah Lance - ISFJ
The ISFJ’s of the MBTI inventory are more colloquially known as “the defenders”. And while Dinah Lance doesn’t begin Birds of Prey as a woman who seems overly concerned with the welfare of others, she clearly has a benevolent spirit that is just waiting to be unleashed.
From the moment she meets Cassandra Cain she displays an unusual amount of care and concern for her, and once she realizes that the latest target of Black Mask’s wrath is only a child she doesn’t hesitate to turn her back on her former boss in order to do the right thing. Much like her mother apparently did, Dinah uses her considerable abilities to do the right thing, even if it’s at potentially great personal cost to herself.
Cassandra Cain - ISFP
Although they’re introverts, the ISFP portion of the Myers Briggs personality types are not what anyone would expect from a typical introvert. They’re also called “the adventurer”, and they are truly always looking for the next new experience.
Cassandra Cain seems like the quiet type, but beneath that stealthy veneer is an incredibly bold and clever girl who is more than willing to do things that most kids her age wouldn’t even fantasize about. Obviously her adventures sometimes turn into misadventures, but because she is so bold and such a naturally creative thinker, she still manages to find her way out of whatever major jam she’s stuck in at the moment. And it’s hard for those around her to resist her courage and pluck.
Harley Quinn - ESFP
The name that the ESFP personality type is better known by is “the entertainer”. So of course the fantabulously emancipated Harleen Quinzel has to fall into that category. Harley Quinn is really a jack of all trades and a literal genius, but despite all of the insane situations that she finds herself in the real heart of Harley is someone who wants to have fun and who wants to ensure everyone around her is having fun too.
Harley puts pretty much everything she’s got into her happiness for the moment, and she is capable of taking nearly everything on the chin because she’s always looking for her next moment of excitement or adventure.
