macOS Mojave developer beta 8 is now available for testing. As always, we’ll dig through the latest beta version and highlight all the changes between the first beta and the latest beta below. macOS Mojave includes a system-wide dark mode; a new dynamic desktop wallpaper type; Stacks for organizing files on your desktop; a new Gallery view and Quick Actions in Finder; more actions available in Quick Look; new screenshot and screen recording features; Continuity Camera for snapping photos on iPhone for use on Mac; News, Stocks, Home, and Voice Memos apps; a new Mac App Store; and much more....

Here’s another one for next week. We know it seems a bit nuts but try to stay with us here, OK? Word on the street is that Garage Band users will be able to buy celebrity music lessons from Apple. For instance, if you are a drummer, you might be able to purchase for $6.99, a drumming lesson from Neil Peart (we don’t know the specific artists/prices involved). You then download the lessons and in a few (thousand) weeks you are hammering away YYZ like nobody’s business....

On Wednesday, Check Point Research (CPR) said that as of now, over 2,100 victims have been detected worldwide in a new campaign, with the majority resident in the United States, Canada, and India – although evidence of the malware has been found in 111 countries. Dubbed ZLoader, the malicious code has been used in the past to deliver banking Trojans and has been closely connected to multiple ransomware strains. The new campaign is thought to have started in November 2021....

Mark Hamill took to Twitter yesterday to celebrate the birthday of his longtime friend and co-star Carrie Fisher in a truly touching way. Nintendo’s Mario Kart Tour was released for iOS and Android on Wednesday, and despite all its success, there has been some controversy over its freemium model. That has already been reflected in its availability in some regions. According to the Brussels Times, the company has opted not to launch Mario Kart Tour in Belgium, as loot boxes are prohibited there. Players must pay $4.99 a month to unlock all the content....

Marvel Studios’ Loki show reportedly casts Owen Wilson in a major role. The Loki series was one of the first Marvel Studios projects announced for the Disney+ streaming service, with Disney CEO Bob Iger confirming it before it was officially unveiled later by Marvel. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige revealed the Loki show will premiere Spring 2021 on Disney+ during the studio’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2019. Feige additionally confirmed the series will follow 2012 Loki, who escaped in Avengers: Endgame, taking the Tesseract with him....

New set photos for WandaVision confirm Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) works for SWORD, and show her working with Jimmy Woo (Randall Park). As one of the first shows from Marvel Studios that will arrive on Disney+, WandaVision is set to give Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) a story of their own. The series has been described as half sitcom, half MCU epic, with it laying the groundwork for Wanda’s role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness next year....

It’s safe to say that the season 2 finale of Mayans M.C. will be overshadowed somewhat by the recent news of Kurt Sutter’s firing by FX Networks. Though Sutter’s firing is — or was — newsworthy when it occurred, his departure from the franchise he helped create was already a forgone conclusion, as he announced plans to hand the reins over to series co-creator Elgin James before that news broke. What that means for the future of the series and its ongoing connections to Sons of Anarchy is anyone’s guess, especially as the show closes out its second season with an elaborate series of violent events that’s very much in Sutter’s wheelhouse....
