We learned a little more today about Apple’s plans for Marzipan, its UIKit that will make it easy for developers to port iOS apps to the Mac. Today’s report suggests that the project will be rolling out a little more slowly than expected, with an SDK for third-party apps launching at this year’s WWDC – but only for iPad apps … That’s a rather more leisurely pace than I’d like to have seen – but the wait will be worth it....

With the launch of the 16-inch MacBook Pro and the new Mac Pro, Apple is increasingly focusing on the professional consumer market. Now we have found evidence that the company is working on a new feature for macOS that should further improve the workflow for professionals. The latest macOS Catalina 10.15.3 beta build contains references to a new “Pro Mode,” which can be turned on and off by users. Some strings mention that “Apps may run faster, but battery life may decrease and fan noise may increase” and “Fan speed limit overridden” when the Pro Mode is activated....

Filming is officially underway on season 3 of Hulu’s Marvel series Runaways. Hulu and Marvel originally announced their partnership on a live-action Runaways series in 2016, several years after the comic property was in consideration to be one of Marvel Studios’ first round of movies. Runaways debuted on the streaming service in late 2017, and released new episodes on a weekly basis. For season 2, Hulu and Marvel increased the episode count from 10 to 13 and decided to drop the episodes all at once at the very end of last year....
Marc Newson, a close friend to Jony Ive and famed designer himself, spoke recently to the Australian Financial Review about the reaction to the Apple Watch so far. Apple hasn’t disclosed Apple Watch sales to date, Tim Cook citing competitive reasons, but analysts ball parked numbers around 3.95 million last quarter. Newson suggests Apple Watch will reach iPhone levels within five years. (Apple sold 48 million iPhones last quarter.) Mark Millar should be a familiar name to fans of comic-book film adaptations.
