As one of the last big car companies not yet offering Apple’s CarPlay in its vehicles, Mazda this week confirmed that it will soon roll out the system, including updating older models through software and possibly hardware updates. Cars.com reports that Mazda made the announcement during the launch of its new 2017 CX-5 model, and the publication also cites a spokesperson that confirmed all of the company’s vehicles using its Mazda Connect in-dash system will be eligible to update....

As Apple pushes to expand or upgrade all of its existing classic store locations with increased customer capacity and better capabilities to host Today at Apple sessions, we’ve learned about some of the latest projects underway or in consideration across the United States. First up is Columbia, Maryland, where Apple has filed plans to renovate an existing tenant space inside The Mall in Columbia. On the mall’s second floor, Apple intends to transform a vacant, roughly 8,000 square foot Abercrombie & Fitch space into a modern store likely consistent with the design guidelines employed by other recent indoor locations like Apple Galleria Dallas, which just opened this past weekend, and Apple Natick, which reopened in February....

The season 2 premiere of NBC’s Manifest reveals that Vance (Daryl Edwards) is still alive. Robert “Bobby” Vance was the director of the NSA, and a key ally of Ben (Josh Dallas) in season 1. He was supposedly killed in an explosion at the Unified Dynamic Systems’ secret facility in Manifest’s midseason 1 finale. At the beginning of Manifest’s first season, Vance was presented as a secretive government official who got himself involved in the mystery surrounding the passengers of Flight 828....

Back in 2015, when Fox still had the rights to the Fantastic Four characters, the studio made a last-ditch attempt to hold onto them by rebooting the franchise with Fant4stic. With the highly anticipated update to Mavericks 10.9.2, users gained the ability to block contacts in FaceTime and iMessage. This has been a long-awaited addition, since iOS 7 received this feature five months ago. If you previously blocked people in iOS 7, the block list syncs over from your iOS devices to your Mac through iCloud. Make sure Documents and Data is turned on in order for that to occur....

According to Macworld’s tests, the Core i7 iMac beat the Octo-core Mac Pro 2.2GHz in a number of Speedmark 6 tests and overall it was 1.5% faster than the fastest base model computer Apple sells. Sure, you can update that Mac Pro Beast to 2.93GHz Octo, but that is $2600 more, $500 more than the entire Core i7 iMac! Even the Core i5 iMac did pretty well. Oh, and that iMac has the best display Apple has ever produced....

There were a few hiccups along the way but at the end of Oscar night, Barry Jenkins’ stirring coming-of-age drama Moonlight came out one of the biggest winners, garnering three awards including Best Picture (though Warren Beatty still isn’t sure about that). One of Moonlight’s stars, Mahershala Ali, took home the award for Best Supporting Actor and a lot of viewers were left wondering, “Who is Mahershala Ali?” As a matter of fact, Ali has been around for a long time doing mostly TV, so even people who didn’t know the name had likely seen him many times before the Oscars....
